Contrary to popular belief, perpetuated by the plethora of viral CrossFit fail videos. I know there's a lot of them. The injury risk for CrossFit has been shown in peer reviewed research to be less than recreational running.
I’ll say that again, you’re more likely to sustain an injury as a recreational runner than a recreational CrossFit participant.

This information doesn't mean that you should stop running if that is what you enjoy doing to stay physically active, but it does dispel the myth that CrossFit participation is extremely dangerous when compared to other recreational activities.
As a licensed medical provider, I would argue the benefits of running, CrossFit, Powerlifting and Regular Weightlifting outweigh the risks associated with each activity.
The most risky and detrimental activity for your health is being inactive. Being strong and cardiovascularly fit has been shown time and time again to lower your overall risk of death from any cause.
